Venus Protocol, the leading lending platform on BNB Chain, has integrated tokenized equities as collateral in its Core Pool, allowing users to borrow against stock positions without liquidating their holdings. The rollout includes three initial assets: TSLAB (Tesla), NVDAB (Nvidia), and SPCXB (S&P 500 index).
The integration marks the first time Venus users can pledge tokenized stock positions as collateral while maintaining price exposure to the underlying equities. Users deposit their bStocks through Binance's tokenization infrastructure, which Trust Wallet and PancakeSwap also support, creating a pathway for stock-backed borrowing across the BNB Chain DeFi stack.
"Venus Core Pool now accepts TSLAB, NVDAB, and SPCXB as collateral for borrowing assets," the protocol announced. "Users keep stock price exposure while unlocking liquidity without selling their holdings." The approach appeals to investors who want to tap capital tied up in equity positions without triggering taxable events or losing upside potential.
This development signals a maturing Real-World Assets (RWA) strategy within DeFi. Binance's bStocks offering, which launched in 2024-2025, has gradually gained adoption across protocols seeking to bridge traditional finance and decentralized lending. Venus joins a broader wave of major lending protocols exploring tokenized securities collateral, though the integration remains conservative in scope. The three initial assets are all mega-cap technology stocks or broad market indices, limiting concentration risk compared to smaller equity offerings.
The mechanics differ subtly from crypto collateral. When users deposit TSLAB, they borrow stablecoins or other assets while the tokenized Tesla position appreciates or depreciates alongside the stock market. If collateral value drops, liquidation mechanics must account for stock market hours and volatility patterns that differ from 24/7 crypto trading. The protocol has built in safeguards to manage this complexity, though liquidation efficiency during market gaps remains a practical consideration.
Regulatory uncertainty looms over the expansion. Tokenized securities operate in a gray zone across jurisdictions, and Venus Protocol's integration could face compliance scrutiny depending on where users access the platform. Binance's tokenization service has operated under specific regulatory frameworks, but DeFi protocols using those assets inherit some compliance risk.
