Sony Opens Soneium Incubation Program for Entertainment Startups
Sony has launched the Sony Onchain Entertainment Incubation Program for startups building on Soneium. Applications close in December 2026, selection runs to March 2027, and Sony says participation does not guarantee investment.
Sony is recruiting startups and creators to build entertainment products on Soneium, its blockchain network, through a new scheme called the Sony Onchain Entertainment Incubation Program. According to an October 29 announcement, selected projects will receive technical resources, business development assistance, marketing support and opportunities to work with companies across Sony Group.

Timeline and terms
Applications are accepted through December 2026. Screening and selection run from November 2026 through March 2027, with support starting on a rolling basis. Projects must support Soneium, though multichain approaches are welcome if the network is properly integrated.
Beyond infrastructure and marketing, participants can receive community-building opportunities and potential investment consideration, and one report adds that projects may be connected with investors. The investment language comes with a caveat. Sony says participation does not guarantee investment, which is subject to separate evaluation, and the announcement specifies no fixed investment amount.
Scope is reported differently
Accounts of which sectors qualify diverge. One report lists console, PC and mobile games, anime, manga, music, films, esports, immersive experiences and creator communities. The other says Sony has not restricted the initiative to a particular entertainment category.
PlayStation games appear among the reported target categories, but Sony has not announced any specific PlayStation crypto integration.
Earlier programs
This is Sony's third incubation effort on the network. Soneium Spark selected 32 projects from more than 1,700 applications in 2024, and Soneium For All selected 11 from more than 250 applications in 2025. That puts the combined total at 43 supported projects since 2024.
Context
The launch follows Soneium's October 26 announcement of plans for SONEIUM, a proposed native token, and tokenized entertainment products. The token has not been issued, and no launch date, supply or distribution has been announced.
Soneium is an Ethereum layer 2 developed by Sony Group and Startale Group, with mainnet live since January 2025. Sony Ventures invested $13 million in Startale in January 2026, the same month Startale said Soneium had processed more than 500 million transactions and supported over 250 applications.
Sony's digital-asset activity extends beyond Soneium, as in our report on Sony Bank's OCC conditional approval for a stablecoin. The incubation program is a developer-acquisition effort, and the questions that matter for applicants are how many projects are chosen and whether any receive capital: the announcement commits to neither a funding figure nor a guarantee.
