Jupiter and BitGo Launch Institutional SOL Validator in Custody

Jupiter and BitGo launched the Jupiter x BitGo validator, letting institutional clients stake SOL directly from custody accounts while assets stay in BitGo cold storage, backed by up to $250 million in insurance.

BitGo's institutional clients can now stake SOL without pulling it out of custody. The Jupiter x BitGo validator, announced by the two companies on October 28, 2026, lets clients delegate straight from their custody accounts while the tokens stay in BitGo cold storage.

Jupiter's counterparty is BitGo Bank & Trust, N.A. BitGo custody carries up to $250 million in insurance plus bankruptcy-remote protections. The pitch is simple: earn yield without handing tokens to a new staking provider.

Delegators earn two kinds of rewards. Inflation rewards are newly issued SOL. MEV rewards come from maximum extractable value, the extra revenue validators collect from how they order transactions, and some of it flows back to stakers. None of it is fixed. Payouts vary with network inflation, MEV activity and validator performance.

Jupiter's COO framed the move as an investment in the base layer under its products.

"Most people know Jupiter for swaps, perps, and lending, but none of that works without a network that's secure and fast underneath it"

Kash Dhanda, COO of Jupiter

He added that "running a validator is how we invest in that base layer, and partnering with BitGo brings institutional SOL into it on terms those institutions already trust."

BitGo's angle is process, not yield. Abel Seow, Managing Director and Head of APAC Sales at BitGo, said staking "needs to fit into their existing custody and approval processes."

The validator's numbers hold up. A recent snapshot showed 100% uptime over 30 days and a 0.008% skip rate over the same window. A skip rate is the share of assigned block slots a validator fails to produce. Historically, the validator has supported between roughly 9.71 million SOL and more than 12.5 million SOL in stake.

Jupiter is best known as the aggregator routing trades across Solana DEXs, but it already runs a validator business offering native staking and JupSOL, its liquid staking token. It added Twinstake to its validator set a day before this announcement.

There is a flip side. A validator already holding millions of SOL could get bigger on institutional inflows, and Solana's decentralization depends on stake being spread across many operators. Performance can also slip over time, even for top operators. BitGo has a history of integrating multiple staking partners, so this is one more option on its menu.

For traders, the takeaway is plumbing rather than price: a compliant path for custodied SOL to earn yield removes one friction point for institutions. It lands days after J.P. Morgan put its MONY and JLTXX tokenized money funds on Solana, another sign institutional workflows are being built on the network. The number to watch is how much stake actually migrates to the new validator.
