Dogecoin Contributor Mishaboar Urges Businesses to Fund Core Code Review
Dogecoin contributor Mishaboar is asking businesses building on DOGE to support Dogecoin Core and rigorous code review, calling review 'truly crucial, now more than ever.' The appeal came two days after Dogecoin Labs formed with the Dogecoin Foundation.
A Dogecoin contributor is asking the companies that profit from the network to help pay for keeping it safe. In a post on X on October 23, 2026, Mishaboar called on commercial ventures building for Dogecoin to support Dogecoin Core, the software layer that wallets and services depend on, and the engineers who review its code.

Mishaboar asked businesses to keep Core secure and up to date, with rigorous engineers reviewing code and well-argued, thoroughly researched proposals. Code review is the unglamorous gatekeeping step where other developers inspect a change before it ships, and he put it at the center of his appeal.
"The review part is truly crucial, now more than ever."

His wider list went beyond Core. He asked companies to back alternative node implementations and open-source projects from small independent developers, and to fund rigorous, data-backed research into improving Dogecoin, with full transparency. He also asked them to build technically sound, transparent commercial products with clearly stated business models and risk disclosures, and to care about their users.
He framed the request as a matter of the network's identity:
"Big names who supported Doge in the past clearly stated that its open nature, its decentralization, and the fact that nobody could control it were its greatest assets (alongside the dog in the logo)."

He added a line that reads as both a standard and a warning: "People's respect for Dogecoin starts here, IMO."
The timing
The post landed two days after Dogecoin Labs announced its formation with the Dogecoin Foundation on October 21, 2026. As we reported at launch, Labs unites the MyDoge wallet, the DogeOS rollup and Such App, and DogeOS is on testnet with no mainnet timeline. The Foundation will keep stewardship and continue supporting open-source development, advocacy and community work, and MyDoge serves more than 500,000 users.
Nothing in the reporting says Mishaboar was responding to Dogecoin Labs directly. The connection is one of timing, not his stated motive.
Market backdrop
DOGE traded at about $0.0775, down 0.96% over 24 hours, according to reported figures, with $0.075 support and the $0.07498 swing low in focus. Low funding rates and declining open interest point to muted leveraged demand, with DOGE below key moving averages, and traders are watching whether Bitcoin holds above $80,000.

What it means
An open-source network without a corporate owner relies on outside contributors to audit what ships, while the commercial products built on top capture the revenue. Think of it as a shared road that toll operators use daily but nobody is formally paid to inspect. With MyDoge, DogeOS and Such App now under one roof at Labs, that gap is harder to ignore. Read structurally, Mishaboar's appeal points at the businesses that depend most on a sound Core release as the natural ones to fund its review. No company response to the post has been reported.
