Gate, a crypto trading platform that says it was founded in 2013, announced on Oct. 8, 2026 a collaboration with Visa to launch a crypto-linked card. Gate says the product is "expected to launch" across 40+ markets. All details come from Gate's own press release, and we found no separate Visa announcement.

What Gate says

Per the release, when a user pays with the card, the relevant crypto assets are automatically converted into fiat currency at the point of sale. Users can apply for and manage the card in the Gate app.

Gate says details on supported markets, eligibility, supported assets and availability are on its product page. The release itself lists none of them. A crypto.news write-up, which we could only review as a search-result excerpt, also reports that no complete list of the 40-plus markets has been published.

The wording on timing is mixed. The release says "expected to launch," while Gate's CEO is quoted as saying "As the service launches across more than 40 countries and territories." No launch dates were given.

Who is involved

The release says Visa's network spans more than 175 million merchant locations across more than 200 countries and territories. It also says more than 160 stablecoin-linked Visa card programmes are live, with payment volume up nearly 200% year-over-year. The release cites no source or date for these figures.

Gate says it serves more than 61 million users. These are self-reported numbers.

Gate Founder and CEO Dr. Han is quoted in the release: "Digital assets are gradually becoming part of everyday financial life." The only Visa-side statement found is also inside the release. It is attributed to Nischint Sanghavi, listed as Head of Digital Currencies, APAC, with no company named in the title. He says: "Consumers want payment methods that are flexible, convenient, and widely accepted."

Existing products

Gate says it has officially launched Gate Money, an app combining digital assets, fiat currencies, stocks, ETFs, gold, bank accounts and payments. Users must update to Gate App v8.39.0 to enable it. The Visa card is positioned as extending Gate Money into everyday spending.

This is not Gate's first card. Its card page describes Gate Card as a digital assets credit card usable online, in-store and at ATMs, with up to 8% cashback depending on tier. The page lists updates dated July 2 to Aug. 28, 2026. It also says Gate joins the Mastercard Crypto Partner Program.

It is unconfirmed whether the Visa card replaces, sits alongside or rebrands Gate Card. The cashback terms on the card page may not apply to the Visa product.

Caveats

BeInCrypto's copy, published Oct. 9, is labelled a press release and carries an Advertorial tag. The release was also distributed through GlobeNewswire and carried by the Manila Times and Cointelegraph. That reflects syndication of one release, not independent confirmation.

Gate also says it may restrict services in certain jurisdictions, and card services are not intended for people where they are prohibited by law.

What to watch

Key open items are the market list, supported assets, fees, launch dates and the card issuer. A separate Visa announcement would also help, since none was found. Readers should also watch how the new card relates to the existing Gate Card.
