WisdomTree, a global investment firm known for its innovative ETFs, has launched a new digital fund that brings private credit directly onto public blockchains. The WisdomTree Private Credit and Alternative Income Digital Fund (CRDT), announced on September 12, allows investors to access one of the fastest-growing areas of finance with a minimum commitment of just $25.

The fund tracks the Gapstow Liquid Alternative Credit Index and will be available on both the Ethereum and Stellar blockchains, making it accessible to a broad range of retail and institutional investors. Through the WisdomTree Prime app and Connect platform, users can participate in a market that has historically been reserved for institutional capital, while maintaining regulatory safeguards aligned with traditional investment vehicles.

Jeremy Schwartz, WisdomTree’s Global Chief Investment Officer, emphasized the importance of the launch, noting that private credit “has become one of the most talked-about opportunities in today’s market.” He added that the firm’s goal has been to democratize access: “For four years, we’ve been proud to make this space more accessible to the individual investor through our ETF, and now CRDT is able to deliver yield potential in a modern, tokenized fund.”

Private credit, long dominated by institutional players, has surged in relevance as investors search for yield in a world of fluctuating interest rates. By tokenizing the asset class, WisdomTree aims to expand accessibility while appealing to crypto-native investors seeking exposure beyond traditional tokens. Will Peck, Head of Digital Assets at the firm, described CRDT as a way to bring alternatives directly on-chain: “By expanding the breadth of our tokenized funds, we’re giving crypto native investors the chance to diversify via exposures that were once reserved for institutions.”

The strategic significance of CRDT lies in its ability to merge real-world assets (RWAs) with blockchain infrastructure. Unlike purely speculative crypto tokens, CRDT is underpinned by tangible financial instruments and subject to regulatory oversight, which positions it as a compliant gateway between traditional markets and decentralized ecosystems.

WisdomTree has already built a reputation as one of the financial firms most committed to blockchain adoption, rolling out tokenized funds in recent years that blur the line between conventional finance and digital innovation. By choosing Ethereum and Stellar as the launch platforms, the firm ensures broad accessibility and robust infrastructure while highlighting the interoperability of its offering.

For the broader market, the launch underscores a clear trend: established asset managers are moving decisively into blockchain-based products, not only to capture new investors but also to reshape how capital markets operate. As tokenization gains traction, initiatives like CRDT could mark the beginning of a structural shift, where private credit and other alternative assets become standard components of blockchain portfolios.
