In a major development in the ZKasino fraud investigation, UAE authorities have arrested Ildar Ilham, the founder of WhiteRock Finance, over his alleged involvement in the $30 million exit scam. The arrest follows weeks of speculation, led by renowned crypto investigator ZachXBT, who identified links between Ilham and the now-defunct ZKasino project.

The decentralized gambling platform ZKasino had raised over $30 million in presale funding, promising revolutionary blockchain-based betting infrastructure. However, the platform abruptly disappeared, triggering alarm bells across the crypto community. Funds were allegedly siphoned off by the team, sparking a wave of on-chain investigations.

According to a red notice shared by ZachXBT, Ilham was detained by UAE law enforcement and is expected to be extradited to the Netherlands to face criminal charges. His arrest is the latest in a string of legal actions tied to the scam. Earlier in 2024, Dutch authorities apprehended Elham Nourzai, another key figure in the scheme, though he was later released. Shortly afterward, stolen funds were traced moving through privacy-enhanced networks like ZkSync, Ethereum, Solana, and Starknet.

ZachXBT's investigation revealed troubling connections between WhiteRock and ZKasino. By tracking on-chain transactions and cross-referencing marketing wallets, he discovered commingled funds and a personal email linking Ilham directly to the scam. the WhiteRock project, launched in late 2024, has displayed numerous red flags: an anonymous team, fake partnership announcements, and suspicious funding through instant exchanges.

Although WhiteRock has not yet executed a known rug pull, the revelations have sparked calls for preemptive action. ZachXBT has urged exchanges such as MEXC and Gate.io to delist the WHITE token and perform rigorous due diligence on the team to protect investors.

The crypto community has responded positively to the arrest. Many investors scammed by ZKasino expressed a sense of justice in the comment threads following the announcement. However, the broader issue remains: the persistent vulnerability of decentralized finance to fraudulent schemes.

The ZKasino case exemplifies the importance of transparency, auditability, and accountability in the blockchain space. As regulators and investigators continue closing in on illicit actors, the arrest of Ilham may serve both as justice for victims and as a deterrent for future bad actors.
