In a striking show of confidence in digital assets, Trump Media and Technology Group has revealed it now holds approximately $2 billion in Bitcoin and Bitcoin-related securities. The announcement comes on the heels of significant crypto legislation clearing the U.S. House of Representatives, marking a notable political and financial alignment in favor of cryptocurrency.

According to a company notice issued Monday, the media conglomerate—which owns Truth Social, Donald Trump's social media platform—has begun executing an investment strategy announced in May. Under the plan, Trump Media allocated $1.5 billion from stock sales and an additional $1 billion from convertible senior secured bonds to acquire Bitcoin.

"We will continue to accumulate Bitcoin and related assets as market conditions evolve," the company stated, indicating a long-term commitment to digital asset exposure.

This investment follows what Republicans dubbed "crypto week" in Congress, during which three major cryptocurrency bills passed the House. Although only the GENIUS stablecoin bill has been signed into law so far, it marks a turning point in federal policy. The other two proposals—targeting digital asset market structures and central bank digital currencies—await Senate approval.

The GENIUS bill may directly benefit Trump-affiliated ventures. World Liberty Financial, a crypto business backed by the Trump family, has issued its own stablecoin and recently saw the value of its governance token (WLFI) more than double. The growth followed a community vote to make WLFI tradable, reflecting heightened market interest.

Meanwhile, the president's memecoin, "Official Trump" (TRUMP), also surged from $10.45 to $11.55 in the past week, according to Nansen.ai. Trump is believed to indirectly control 80% of the token supply through two corporate entities, highlighting his deep personal stake in the crypto market.

Earlier this year, Trump signed an executive order establishing a "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve" and a federal "Digital Asset Stockpile," with initial speculation suggesting it would include crypto seized by authorities. Advisors later suggested alternative approaches, including the revaluation of gold certificates to fund these reserves.

As the price of Bitcoin hovers near $118,000, Trump Media’s bold entry into the market may represent not just a financial gamble but a broader political message. It ties the fortunes of the former president’s media empire—and potentially his reelection bid—to the success of the crypto economy.
