In another sign that political influence and cryptocurrency are becoming increasingly intertwined, Thumzup Media Corporation—a firm backed by Donald Trump Jr.—has announced the $153.8 million acquisition of Dogehash Technologies. The all-stock deal aims to create the world’s largest Dogecoin mining operation, rebranded as Dogehash Technologies Holdings, Inc., with plans to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker XDOG.

The acquisition underscores a growing strategic pivot by Thumzup, which was once focused on digital marketing but has since transformed itself into a digital-asset infrastructure company. By aligning with Dogehash’s industrial-scale mining operations, Thumzup is positioning itself at the forefront of the meme-inspired cryptocurrency’s mining sector.

Dogehash currently runs approximately 2,500 Scrypt ASIC miners across North America, producing both Dogecoin (DOGE) and Litecoin (LTC). The merged company plans to expand this fleet through 2026, with a particular emphasis on renewable energy data centers—an increasingly critical component in the public perception of crypto mining.

But beyond scale, the deal signals a technological shift. Dogehash intends to integrate DogeOS, Dogecoin’s Layer-2 protocol, to boost mining efficiency and deliver higher yields. By combining traditional block rewards with decentralized finance (DeFi)-based staking mechanisms, the platform seeks to attract miners with the promise of enhanced profitability.

Executives close to the deal argue that this merger represents more than a consolidation of hardware. It is also a bid to reshape Dogecoin’s role in the wider digital-asset ecosystem. “With this acquisition, we are setting the stage for Dogecoin to move beyond its meme status into a sustainable, yield-generating infrastructure asset,” a spokesperson for Thumzup said.

For Trump-linked investors, the acquisition is also symbolic. As Donald Trump Jr. continues to lend his backing to pro-crypto ventures, the family’s ties to digital assets appear to be deepening. The move dovetails with broader political support from figures aligned with former President Trump, who has openly championed cryptocurrency as part of his economic platform.

However, questions remain about the long-term viability of such an ambitious expansion. Dogecoin, while popular among retail traders, has faced criticism for its lack of development activity compared to other major cryptocurrencies. Integrating DogeOS may help address some of these concerns, but skeptics warn that speculative hype often drives more of Dogecoin’s value than fundamentals.

For now, the market response has been cautiously optimistic. Analysts suggest that if Thumzup can leverage Dogehash’s hardware dominance while effectively deploying Layer-2 staking, it could indeed establish a competitive moat in the meme coin mining space. The Nasdaq listing under XDOG will be closely watched as an indicator of investor appetite for large-scale Dogecoin infrastructure.

As the industry evolves, the Thumzup–Dogehash merger represents a bold bet: that Dogecoin’s quirky origins can be transformed into a cornerstone of institutional crypto mining. Whether this gamble pays off may determine if Dogecoin remains an internet joke—or solidifies as a serious player in the blockchain economy.
