Trump-Linked Crypto Venture Targets $1.5B Public Listing for WLFI Token Treasury
World Liberty Financial eyes $1.5B Nasdaq listing for WLFI tokens, drawing major crypto investors.
World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture with deep ties to the Trump family, is preparing for one of the largest public market moves yet by a politically connected digital-asset firm. According to Bloomberg, the company aims to list a Nasdaq-traded entity holding its WLFI governance tokens, targeting a $1.5 billion raise.
The plan, still under development, has attracted attention from major technology and crypto investors, with talks described as progressing rapidly. The company’s website names former U.S. President Donald Trump as "co-founder emeritus," underscoring the political clout behind the project.
The listing would position World Liberty Financial among a growing group of publicly traded digital-asset treasury firms — companies that hold significant cryptocurrency reserves on their balance sheets. In 2025 alone, such firms have raised an estimated $79 billion for Bitcoin acquisitions.
Investor documents suggest that the WLFI treasury company could emerge through the takeover of an existing Nasdaq-listed shell, following a model popularized by Michael Saylor’s MicroStrategy, now rebranded as Strategy. Since shifting to a Bitcoin-centric business model in 2020, Strategy has accumulated over $72 billion in BTC, achieving a market capitalization of nearly $113 billion.
Inspired by Strategy’s success as a de facto Bitcoin ETF, similar ventures have sprung up worldwide, from Japanese hotel chains to new treasury firms dedicated to Ethereum, Litecoin, and other tokens. Earlier this year, Trump Media made headlines by purchasing $2 billion worth of Bitcoin for its treasury.
Trump himself disclosed in June that he had earned $57.4 million from selling part of his stake in World Liberty Financial. His 2025 financial disclosure revealed holdings of 15.75 billion WLFI governance tokens. Since its 2024 launch, the firm has marketed itself as both a DeFi and stablecoin platform, raising $550 million through two public token offerings.
High-profile backers include Tron founder Justin Sun, who acquired 2 billion tokens for $30 million, and Web3Port, which invested $10 million in January. the Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss invested in American Bitcoin Corp., a mining company linked to Eric Trump, as it prepared for a public debut. That private placement round raised $220 million in cash and bitcoin and was reportedly oversubscribed.
World Liberty Financial currently offers USD1, a dollar-pegged stablecoin, and is developing a crypto-lending application. If the $1.5 billion listing proceeds, it could mark a watershed moment in merging political influence with large-scale cryptocurrency market participation.
