SoFi Reenters Crypto Market with Trading and Blockchain Remittance Services
SoFi relaunches crypto trading and plans blockchain-based remittances amid favorable U.S. regulatory changes.
SoFi Technologies has officially resumed spot cryptocurrency trading, allowing users to buy, sell, and hold major digital assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. This move also includes plans for blockchain-based global remittances, marking a strategic reentry into the crypto space following a temporary exit in 2023 due to regulatory constraints.
As reported by Bloomberg, the fintech platform’s crypto relaunch provides expanded services to its customers, who can now access a wider range of digital currencies. The relaunch aligns with comments made earlier this year by SoFi CEO Anthony Noto, who confirmed the company's intent to reintegrate crypto offerings as part of a broader digital asset strategy.
"We want to be able to offer blockchain products and crypto products across every area that we’re currently in—across lending, paying, investing, and protecting," Noto said in April 2025. He emphasized that ongoing innovation in the sector is "reinventing the future of financial services," and SoFi aims to help accelerate this transformation.
SoFi had previously exited the crypto market in November 2023, citing regulatory hurdles that led to the migration of its crypto accounts to Blockchain.com. However, a shifting regulatory environment in the U.S. has encouraged SoFi’s return. This includes support from key policymakers, such as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, who recently affirmed that banks are "free" to engage in crypto-related services.
legislative progress—highlighted by the U.S. Senate's passage of the GENIUS Act supporting stablecoin regulation—has fostered renewed optimism among traditional financial players. President Donald Trump has publicly encouraged swift congressional approval of the bill.
Looking ahead, SoFi’s crypto roadmap includes not only continued expansion into stablecoins but also integrating blockchain technologies across all its financial products. With the promise of secure, transparent, and efficient services, SoFi aims to empower users in cross-border payments, investing, and digital savings.
The company’s reentry underscores a broader industry trend: the convergence of fintech innovation and regulatory clarity is reshaping how mainstream financial institutions engage with crypto.
