The developers behind the Shiba Inu ecosystem have officially launched LEASH v2, a redesigned token aimed at repairing community confidence after a controversial supply increase undermined trust in the original LEASH asset.

The move follows an unexpected 10% surge in LEASH’s supply, which rattled investors and sparked criticism about transparency and oversight in the project. In response, Shiba Inu’s developers, led by ecosystem contributor Kaal Dhairya, designed LEASH v2 to ensure both supply integrity and improved governance mechanisms.

The upgrade was formally approved by the Shiba Inu DAO, marking a decisive step toward decentralized governance. Through community voting, token holders endorsed the migration, making LEASH v2 one of the most prominent examples of DAO-led decision-making in the meme coin space.

“Community input was central to this decision,” Shiba Inu’s developers noted in their announcement, underscoring the role of collective governance in shaping the project’s direction.

LEASH v2 introduces a new architecture with strict audit controls designed to prevent unauthorized changes to token supply. The contract now operates under direct DAO oversight, meaning that any future modifications will require approval through formal community votes.

A crucial measure is the supply freeze at a pre-rebase snapshot, ensuring stability and predictability for token holders. Independent developers within the Shiba Inu community also carried out security audits, confirming the contract’s resilience and its safeguards against similar issues in the future.

The adjustments reflect a conscious effort to address the vulnerabilities that allowed the previous supply irregularities to occur. According to developers, the redesign not only secures LEASH’s role in the ecosystem but also provides a governance model that could be replicated across other decentralized projects.

The LEASH v2 launch applies exclusively to LEASH and does not affect other tokens in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, including SHIB and BONE, which remain unchanged.

Despite initial skepticism, the rollout has been met with a broadly positive response from the community. Holders praised the transparency of the migration process and the DAO’s active role in decision-making. For many, the upgrade represents a reset moment for LEASH, restoring trust after months of uncertainty.

The launch of LEASH v2 also sets an important precedent for the broader crypto industry. By combining technical corrections with community-led governance, Shiba Inu’s developers may have provided a blueprint for how decentralized projects can navigate crises while strengthening legitimacy.
