The migration represents Ronin's departure from operating as an independent sidechain toward integration with Ethereum's Layer 2 ecosystem. By adopting the OP Stack framework, Ronin will inherit Ethereum's security guarantees rather than relying on its own validator set, the vulnerability that enabled the 2022 hack. The transition follows years of development and represents a strategic acknowledgment that maintaining a sovereign sidechain proved incompatible with the security standards required for a gaming platform handling billions in user assets.
