A new chapter in digital asset investment opened today with the launch of Canada’s first spot XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF). Canadian asset manager 3iQ unveiled the XRPQ ETF, which began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) on June 18, 2025. Notably, Ripple, the company behind the XRP Ledger, has invested in the fund, signaling its strategic endorsement.

The XRPQ ETF is designed to give investors direct exposure to XRP while adhering to regulatory standards. It will operate with zero management fees for the first six months—an aggressive move to attract interest in a highly competitive market. According to 3iQ, the fund holds XRP in cold storage and sources the assets only from regulated exchanges and OTC platforms, ensuring investor security and compliance.

“The launch of XRPQ marks another milestone in our mission to provide investors with convenient, cost-effective access to digital assets within a regulated framework,” said Pascal St-Jean, CEO of 3iQ, during the TSX closing bell ceremony.

Open to Canadian and select international investors, XRPQ represents a significant step toward integrating XRP into mainstream investment portfolios. The fund is structured around long-term XRP holdings and complies with existing frameworks for asset-backed ETFs.

3iQ brings substantial experience to the table, having previously launched ETFs for Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana. Its Solana Staking ETF, released earlier in 2025, has already surpassed $120 million in assets under management.

XRPQ is not alone in this new market segment. Purpose Investments also launched a spot XRP ETF this week, adding further momentum to the growing ecosystem of XRP investment products in Canada.

Meanwhile, the United States is not far behind. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is currently reviewing applications for spot XRP ETFs submitted by financial giant Franklin Templeton. The proposed Franklin XRP ETF and Franklin Solana ETF, if approved, would trade on the Cboe BZX Exchange.

As regulators and financial institutions continue to converge around crypto asset integration, the launch of Ripple-backed XRPQ underscores a broader trend: digital assets are steadily entering the regulated investment mainstream. For XRP, this milestone may mark the beginning of a new era of institutional adoption.
