Pakistan has taken a strategic leap toward digital asset adoption by enlisting Bitcoin mogul Michael Saylor as an official crypto advisor. The executive chair of Strategy, formerly MicroStrategy, met with top government officials on June 15 in Islamabad to discuss integrating Bitcoin into national reserves and shaping a forward-thinking crypto framework.

The high-level discussions involved Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and State Minister for Blockchain and Crypto Bilal Bin Saqib. The agenda focused on laying the foundation for a national digital asset policy, with Saylor reportedly embracing the advisory role. “Pakistan has many brilliant people, and a lot of the world already does business with you,” he remarked in a video shared by the Finance Ministry. Saylor emphasized that trust and leadership are essential to attracting global capital, and Pakistan has both.

Under Saylor’s stewardship, Strategy has amassed a staggering 582,000 BTC, worth over $61 billion. This makes it the largest Bitcoin-holding public company worldwide. The firm’s aggressive accumulation strategy, financed through debt and equity raises, has seen its stock value surge more than 3,000% since mid-2020.

The meeting follows a series of crypto-positive moves by Pakistan’s government, including the creation of a digital asset regulatory authority and plans for a sovereign Bitcoin reserve. Minister Saqib called Saylor’s involvement a “milestone,” reflecting the nation’s growing ambition to be a Web3 leader and a formidable player in the global crypto economy.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb echoed this vision, positioning Pakistan as a beacon for digital innovation in the Global South. He introduced the country’s budget in parliament just days before the announcement, reinforcing fiscal commitment to the crypto agenda.

Saylor, known for his unwavering Bitcoin advocacy, reiterated that global capital seeks trustworthy destinations. “If the world trusts you and they hear your words… the capital and the capability will flow to Pakistan. It’s there, it wants to find a home,” he affirmed.

This unprecedented collaboration marks a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s financial evolution. With Saylor’s guidance, the country aims to create a robust and competitive crypto strategy that can attract global investment while enhancing its technological sovereignty.
