NIP Group Expands Into Bitcoin Mining With 3.11 EHps Acquisition
NIP Group acquires 3.11 EHps in Bitcoin miners, expanding beyond esports into crypto mining and AI-driven infrastructure.
NIP Group (NIPG), best known for its presence in gaming and esports, has completed a significant step into the digital asset sector by acquiring Bitcoin mining machines with a combined capacity of 3.11 exahash per second (EHps). The purchase, part of a wider multi-company merger process, positions the firm to mine roughly 60 Bitcoins each month and marks a turning point in its corporate strategy.
The move stems from agreements announced earlier in July, when NIPG disclosed plans to purchase mining equipment from Fortune Peak Limited and Apex Cyber Capital Limited. In exchange, the company issued approximately 119.5 million Class A ordinary shares. The transaction closed on September 5, with shares distributed to Apex Cyber Capital Limited and Prosperity Oak Holdings Limited, which assumed Fortune Peak’s rights in the deal.
Co-CEO Hicham Chahine hailed the integration of mining assets as a foundational development for the company. “The completion of this transaction marks a key milestone in our expansion into the crypto asset space and the establishment of our digital computing capabilities. These mining assets are now fully integrated into our operations, positioning us well to create additional value for our Company and stakeholders,” he said in a statement.
The board of directors also expanded as part of this restructuring, with the appointments of Simon Ming Yeung Tang and Kee Wee Kiang Kenneth. Both bring expertise in finance, corporate law, investment banking, and Bitcoin mining. Their addition reflects NIPG’s broader ambition to leverage digital infrastructure not only for Bitcoin but also for emerging applications in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence.
Chahine highlighted these future goals, noting that mining infrastructure could be adapted to serve beyond crypto. “Over time, we see significant opportunities to optimize performance, explore capacity enhancements, and leverage this computing foundation to support emerging applications across AI and other compute-intensive sectors. We are also pleased to welcome two crypto-focused professionals to our board, as we build out our digital infrastructure and further strengthen our governance,” he remarked.
Alongside its mining pivot, NIPG has announced a strategic relocation to Dubai through a multi-year agreement with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). The arrangement, spanning four years, is expected to provide both financial and non-financial support to accelerate the group’s growth. By moving closer to the Middle East’s increasingly active digital asset and tech ecosystem, NIPG aims to cement its place at the crossroads of gaming, blockchain, and high-performance computing.
The acquisition signals a significant shift in NIPG’s corporate identity, blending its roots in entertainment with a direct stake in blockchain infrastructure. As global competition for digital computing power intensifies, the company’s hybrid focus could allow it to capitalize on multiple growth verticals simultaneously. Whether its Bitcoin mining operations will serve primarily as a financial hedge or as a springboard into AI-driven opportunities remains to be seen. For now, the move underscores the convergence of industries once seen as separate—and positions NIP Group as an unexpected entrant into the evolving digital mining landscape.
