Nasdaq-Listed Webus Commits $300M to XRP Treasury in Strategic Crypto Shift
Webus joins institutional crypto adoption with a $300M XRP treasury and Ripple integration.
Nasdaq-listed automotive and hospitality firm Webus International has made a bold move into the digital asset space by filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to establish a $300 million corporate XRP treasury. The initiative positions Webus among a growing cohort of publicly traded firms leveraging crypto reserves as a strategic financial asset.
In a Form 6-K submission dated June 2, Webus declared its intent to create an XRP-based reserve, aligning itself with a broader trend of institutional crypto adoption. The company aims to finance the reserve through a combination of credit and debt financing—mirroring the blueprint pioneered by MicroStrategy, now Strategy, under the leadership of Michael Saylor.
The XRP acquisition strategy will be executed in partnership with Samara Alpha Management LLC, a New York-based hedge fund seeding platform. Samara Alpha is tasked with managing the $300 million XRP fund on behalf of Webus, ensuring strategic deployment and secure custody.
Beyond treasury accumulation, Webus is integrating Ripple's blockchain-based payment system across its operations, especially in its hospitality arm. This move is expected to streamline cross-border transactions, improve settlement speed, and enhance transparency—leveraging the XRP Ledger’s capacity for near-instant transactions at minimal cost.
Webus' initiative follows similar announcements by other Nasdaq-listed companies. VivoPower recently disclosed a $121 million XRP treasury strategy led by Saudi investment, marking it as the first public company to adopt XRP as a primary reserve asset. Meanwhile, Wellgistics Health committed to a $50 million XRP reserve and plans to incorporate the asset into its blockchain payment infrastructure.
These developments reflect the increasing institutional confidence in XRP as a treasury asset, once a speculative outsider and now gaining traction alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum. The XRP Ledger’s reputation for efficiency and Ripple’s enterprise-grade payment solutions are key to this rising appeal.
For Webus, the dual strategy of asset accumulation and blockchain integration signals a forward-thinking approach to corporate finance and operations. In a landscape still cautious about crypto, Webus is staking a claim that digital reserves and decentralized infrastructure can coexist with traditional corporate models.
