Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings and Takes Center Stage at Bitcoin Asia 2025
Metaplanet boosts its Bitcoin treasury to over 16,000 BTC and sponsors Bitcoin Asia 2025 in a bold regional push.
Metaplanet Inc. has intensified its commitment to Bitcoin with the acquisition of 797 additional BTC, elevating its total holdings to 16,352 BTC. The latest purchase, valued at ¥13.798 billion, was executed at an average price of ¥17.31 million per Bitcoin. This move raises the company’s total investment in Bitcoin to ¥239.616 billion, now averaging ¥14.65 million per BTC.
This bold acquisition is part of Metaplanet’s newly announced "555 Million Plan," which sets an ambitious target: amassing 210,000 BTC by 2027—approximately 1% of Bitcoin's total supply. This replaces the more modest "21 Million Plan," which aimed for 21,000 BTC by 2026.
A proprietary metric, BTC Yield, underscores Metaplanet’s strategic capital allocation. From July 1 to July 14, 2025, the firm reported a BTC Yield of 19.4%, reflecting a gain of 2,590 BTC and a corresponding increase of ¥45.199 billion, based on a BTC/JPY rate of ¥17.45 million. The metric reflects the firm’s ability to increase Bitcoin per share, even amid equity dilution.
In parallel to its financial maneuvers, Metaplanet is stepping into the spotlight as the Title Sponsor of Bitcoin Asia 2025, scheduled for August 28–29 in Hong Kong. With its balance sheet now featuring more than 16,000 BTC, the company has become the largest corporate Bitcoin holder in Asia and ranks fifth globally. The sponsorship signifies a deeper engagement with the region’s evolving crypto landscape.
“We believe Asia is entering a pivotal phase in the Bitcoin decade,” said Simon Gerovich, Metaplanet CEO. “Institutional interest is accelerating, and through this sponsorship, we aim to connect with leading capital allocators who share our vision. Bitcoin is the cornerstone of long-term capital formation, and our strategy remains focused on leading through public market engagement.”
Bitcoin Asia 2025 is expected to attract more than 10,000 participants from across the continent and beyond. As part of the global Bitcoin Conference series, the event complements editions in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. With Metaplanet's involvement, the Hong Kong summit is poised to spotlight Asia's expanding influence in the global Bitcoin economy.
