The Kaia blockchain network and LINE NEXT have announced Project Unify, a collaborative initiative designed to integrate stablecoin payments and digital financial services across Asia’s fragmented markets. Scheduled to launch later this year on LINE’s Dapp Portal, the project represents a major step toward unifying regional payment infrastructure under a single digital framework.

Project Unify will come with a comprehensive software development kit tailored for stablecoin issuers and application developers. Issuers will gain cross-border distribution channels, while developers will be able to embed stablecoin functionality directly into their products. The goal is to make seamless integration possible across remittance services, consumer payments, and crypto on-ramps.

Sam Seo of the Kaia DLT Foundation pointed to Asia’s disjointed payment networks as the primary challenge. Kaia, itself the product of a merger between Kakao’s Klaytn and LINE’s Finschia, has been built with financial inclusion in mind, aiming to consolidate multiple isolated systems into an accessible digital backbone. The effort will be reinforced by multi-currency support, including stablecoins pegged to the Japanese yen, Korean won, Thai baht, Indonesian rupiah, Philippine peso, Malaysian ringgit, and Singapore dollar.

LINE NEXT CEO Youngsu Ko underscored the company’s recognition of stablecoin potential across Asia, emphasizing the strategic role of LINE’s nearly 200 million messaging users in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. By embedding financial functionality into a widely used platform, the initiative seeks to transform how people save, transfer, and spend. Users will be able to deposit stablecoins to earn real-time rewards, send money through messaging applications, and make global purchases with added incentives.

The companies noted that since January 2025, their Mini Dapps platform has attracted more than 130 million registered users, giving Project Unify an immediate distribution base for adoption across multiple Asian economies. A beta version will offer both standalone services and Mini Dapp integration, extending utility across entertainment, commerce, and remittances.

Support from regulators could further accelerate adoption. South Korea is expected to introduce comprehensive stablecoin legislation in October, covering issuance standards, reserve management, and internal controls for won-pegged digital assets. This regulatory clarity may help stabilize the market while providing a template for neighboring economies.

Project Unify reflects a growing recognition that Asia’s payment systems remain siloed, limiting cross-border efficiency in one of the world’s most dynamic financial regions. By combining Kaia’s blockchain infrastructure with LINE’s massive user base, the initiative positions itself as a contender to reshape the stablecoin landscape and potentially establish Asia’s first true “superapp” for digital finance.
