G-Knot Taps Crypto Veteran Wes Kaplan as CEO to Launch First Finger Vein Biometric Wallet
G-Knot appoints Wes Kaplan as CEO to lead launch of the world’s first finger vein crypto wallet, redefining security in digital assets.
In a move poised to reshape digital asset security, biometric technology firm G-Knot has appointed fintech and crypto executive Wes Kaplan as its new CEO. Kaplan, a recognized leader across fintech and digital assets, will lead the global rollout of G-Knot’s groundbreaking finger vein biometric wallet—marking a major leap forward in crypto self-custody and identity verification.
G-Knot, based in New York and operating under exclusive licensing from eTunnel Inc. in Seoul, South Korea, is preparing to launch the world’s first commercial-grade finger vein crypto wallet. The wallet utilizes vein-based biometrics—more secure and unforgeable than fingerprints or facial recognition—to eliminate the need for private keys or recovery phrases, two of the biggest vulnerabilities in today’s crypto ecosystem.
"G-Knot is poised to redefine security in the digital age," said Kaplan in a statement. "By replacing recovery phrases with finger vein authentication, we’re solving real-world problems and unlocking new pathways in DeFi and identity management."
The stakes are high: over $1.4 billion in crypto has been lost to hacks in 2025 alone, with most attacks exploiting wallet vulnerabilities. G-Knot’s technology addresses these risks head-on, offering a secure, intuitive solution for both consumers and institutions.
The underlying technology comes from eTunnel, a global leader in biometric R&D. In 2024, eTunnel’s biometric smart card platform was selected by the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for secure digital ID deployment. G-Knot is now the only company offering commercial finger vein biometric products, setting a high bar for secure identity in the blockchain era.
Youngkuk Kim, CEO of eTunnel, voiced confidence in Kaplan’s leadership: “Wes has the experience and credibility to bring this technology to global markets. His track record scaling crypto and fintech ventures makes him the ideal choice to lead G-Knot through its next phase.”
Kaplan’s resume spans traditional finance and Web3 innovation. He previously served as CEO of Cointelegraph and held senior roles at AscendEX, Tradewind Markets, and institutions like J.P. Morgan and BNY Mellon. His appointment signals G-Knot’s intent to bridge cutting-edge biometric security with real-world adoption in both retail and institutional markets.
As G-Knot prepares to commercialize its flagship wallet, industry eyes will be watching whether finger vein biometrics can become the new standard for digital identity and asset protection.
