eToro is set to radically reshape traditional stock trading by tokenizing U.S. equities on the Ethereum blockchain, enabling round-the-clock transactions. The brokerage firm announced the upcoming launch of ERC-20 tokens representing major U.S.-listed stocks and ETFs, with 24/5 availability to start and full 24/7 trading on the roadmap.

This initiative aligns with a growing industry movement to digitize real-world financial assets (RWAs) using blockchain infrastructure. “We are part of the largest transfer of wealth in human history,” said eToro CEO Yoni Assia, emphasizing that younger generations, fueled by digital platforms, are driving this seismic shift in capital markets.

The move allows investors to buy and sell tokenized shares without being confined to traditional market hours. With Ethereum as the underlying protocol, trades can settle faster, more transparently, and at potentially lower costs. eToro, long a pioneer in crypto adoption, sees this as a logical next step after tokenizing gold, silver, and other assets since acquiring Danish firm Firmo in 2019.

The product launch follows a broader trend toward tokenization in global finance. In March, BlackRock introduced its first tokenized fund on Ethereum, with CEO Larry Fink—once a crypto skeptic—now publicly embracing digital asset infrastructure. Analysts forecast explosive growth in this sector, with VanEck projecting RWAs will exceed $50 billion in market cap by year-end.

Ethereum continues to dominate the tokenization space, thanks to its robust smart contract capabilities and deep ecosystem. Currently, over $12 billion in value is locked in tokenized RWAs on decentralized platforms, a number expected to surge as financial institutions roll out more blockchain-native investment vehicles.

While eToro has not provided a launch date, the decision to tokenize 100 of the most popular stocks and ETFs signals a long-term bet on Ethereum as the backbone of digital finance. The company aims to make equity trading as fluid and borderless as cryptocurrencies, lowering barriers for global retail investors.

Despite eToro’s recent dip in stock performance—down over 4% on Tuesday and nearly 10% year-to-date—the move positions it at the vanguard of blockchain-powered financial services.

As tokenization matures, eToro’s model could become a blueprint for how retail platforms integrate Web3 infrastructure, merging traditional assets with decentralized finance in a 24/7 global economy.
