Eric Trump's Bitcoin Mining Venture Set to Go Public via Gryphon Merger
Eric Trump's American Bitcoin to go public through a merger with Gryphon Digital Mining, trading under ticker ABTC.
Eric Trump’s foray into the cryptocurrency sector is gaining momentum as American Bitcoin, the mining firm he co-founded, announces its plan to go public through a merger with Gryphon Digital Mining. The merged entity will retain the name American Bitcoin and is expected to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "ABTC."
The announcement sparked an immediate reaction in the market, with shares of Gryphon (GRYP) soaring 285% to $2.00. The deal, structured as a stock-for-stock transaction, will see Gryphon acquire American Bitcoin, consolidating their operations under the latter’s brand and leadership team.
Trump, who serves as Chief Strategy Officer at American Bitcoin, described the move as a strategic leap toward democratizing access to Bitcoin investing. "Our vision is to create the most investable bitcoin accumulation platform available," he stated. "This merger brings us closer to offering every investor access to a purpose-built platform engineered for scale and long-term value creation in what we believe is one of the most important asset classes of our time."
The firm was formed earlier in 2025 through a partnership between Trump and bitcoin mining company Hut 8. Asher Genoot, CEO of Hut 8 and a board member of American Bitcoin, emphasized the significance of the upcoming listing. "Taking American Bitcoin public is a critical step toward scaling the business at the pace and magnitude we envision," he said.
The merger comes amid a volatile yet resilient crypto market, with mining firms positioning themselves to attract institutional and retail capital as regulatory frameworks mature. Gryphon Digital Mining has seen a near 400% increase in its stock price year-to-date, underscoring market appetite for exposure to Bitcoin infrastructure. Meanwhile, Hut 8 shares climbed 10% following the announcement, although they remain down 25% in 2025.
The transaction positions American Bitcoin to leverage Gryphon’s operational base and Hut 8’s infrastructure expertise, potentially accelerating its roadmap for scalable bitcoin accumulation. As the company prepares to go public, all eyes will be on how it navigates the challenges of energy-intensive mining, regulatory scrutiny, and the broader performance of the crypto asset class.
