Enegix Global, a Bitcoin-focused data center company, is set to build a 100MW mining facility in the Brazilian state of Piauí. The initiative comes on the back of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with local authorities, marking a significant expansion of crypto mining infrastructure into Latin America.

Estimated at $120 million, the new data center will be located in Parnaíba and is projected to take between four to six years to complete. The site will run on idle capacity from the state power grid, an increasingly common strategy for energy optimization in regions with surplus generation.

This marks Enegix’s first major foray outside Central Asia, where it currently operates two data centers in Kazakhstan with a combined draw of 190MW, and another 100MW in planned capacity. The firm also holds a natural gas processing facility intended to support off-grid mining with the potential to scale up to 400MW.

The Parnaíba project will employ a plug-and-play model, using prefabricated containers fitted with mining equipment—an approach designed to minimize setup time and maximize scalability.

The deal was finalized during the Brazil Energy Conference 2025 in Teresina and was made possible through cooperation between Enegix, the European Chamber of Support to Foreign Investors (CEAIE), and Investe Piauí, the state’s investment agency.

Brazil’s evolving energy landscape played a pivotal role in attracting Enegix. As the country expands its renewable generation capacity, it also faces the challenge of managing waste energy during periods of low consumption. This dynamic, combined with government incentives such as tax exemptions for imported mining equipment, has created an appealing environment for crypto firms.

“Given the conditions that Brazil is creating from the point of view of green energy generation, there is a very strong possibility that we will also install it here in Piauí now,” said Mário Palombini, Enegix’s Brazilian partner.

Daniel Martins, Investe Piauí’s Commercial Director for European Markets, emphasized the local impact: “The project will not only position Piauí in the global cryptocurrency market, but will also bring significant economic impacts. The operation will generate taxes and revenue for the state, as well as opportunities in infrastructure and civil construction.”

As Bitcoin mining faces growing scrutiny over its environmental impact, Enegix’s Brazil venture underscores a shift toward greener, more localized energy sourcing. The move also signals Brazil’s rising profile as a potential hub for digital asset infrastructure, driven by strategic policy incentives and global investor interest.
