Emirates Embraces Crypto Payments in Partnership With Crypto.com, Targeting Digital-First Travelers
Emirates partners with Crypto.com to enable crypto payments starting in 2026, expanding its digital payment options for tech-savvy global travelers.
Dubai-based airline Emirates is set to integrate cryptocurrency payments into its digital infrastructure through a new partnership with Crypto.com, reaffirming its position as an innovation-driven player in the aviation sector. The collaboration, formalized via a memorandum of understanding (MoU), will bring crypto-based transactions to Emirates' booking and payment systems starting in 2026.
This initiative builds on Emirates' 2022 announcement expressing interest in accepting Bitcoin, which never materialized at the time. Now, with a concrete partner and growing global adoption of digital assets, the airline appears ready to follow through on its vision.
"Partnering with Crypto.com to integrate cryptocurrency into our digital payments system reflects Emirates’ commitment to meeting evolving customer preferences," said Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer. He emphasized the importance of reaching younger, tech-savvy travelers who increasingly prefer digital-native financial solutions.
Although the specific cryptocurrencies to be accepted remain unspecified, Crypto.com’s payment service currently supports over 20 digital and fiat settlement options, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, USD, and EUR. Already used by over 4,000 merchants globally, the platform is positioned to offer Emirates a secure and flexible on-ramp into crypto commerce.
Crypto.com President and COO Eric Anziani noted, "As we continue to expand the everyday use case for crypto, integration with exceptional partners such as Emirates will bring real momentum to the digital asset industry."
This announcement comes amid broader crypto adoption efforts in Dubai. In May 2025, Crypto.com also signed an MoU with Dubai Finance, the emirate's financial authority, to enable digital asset payments for government fees. Dubai has championed a "cashless strategy" since 2022 and has become a regional hub for digital finance, recently hosting the Token2049 conference.
Through joint promotional campaigns, Emirates and Crypto.com aim to educate and attract users to the new crypto-enabled services. As crypto payments become more embedded in global commerce, this initiative signals the airline's intention to future-proof its customer engagement model while supporting Dubai's broader vision for financial innovation.
