The event, held at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, celebrated the top 220 investors in the controversial meme coin $TRUMP.

As Odom arrived at the venue, demonstrators chanted “shame,” calling out the ex-Los Angeles Laker for aligning with the divisive cryptocurrency initiative. Odom’s presence raised eyebrows, especially given his prior promotion of his own digital token, $ODOM. Video footage of the moment circulated widely on social media, adding to the uproar.

The event was organized to reward elite stakeholders in the $TRUMP token, launched in January 2025. While the coin has reportedly generated over $312 million in revenue, including $43 million in transaction fees for Trump-affiliated businesses, it has also suffered an 80% drop from its peak valuation—leaving many smaller investors with significant losses.

Critics argue that the former president’s involvement in such private ventures poses serious ethical questions. Echoing these concerns, Senator Jeff Merkley labeled the gala “the Mount Everest of corruption,” while Representative Sean Casten has called for a Justice Department investigation. Despite these calls, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump’s appearance, stating it was conducted in a personal capacity and unaffiliated with government duties.

Odom’s appearance also reignited speculation about the political leanings of the Kardashian family, due to his past marriage to Khloé Kardashian. While the family has not publicly endorsed Trump, Kim Kardashian’s meeting with him during his presidency continues to fuel debate.
