Crypto Adoption Accelerates Globally as Singapore and UAE Take the Lead
Singapore and UAE top global crypto adoption, with rising ownership and infrastructure driving worldwide digital finance growth.
Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have emerged as frontrunners in the race toward mainstream cryptocurrency adoption, according to a new global study by ApeX Protocol. The report reveals that both nations are setting the pace in digital asset ownership, public interest, and infrastructure—factors that are redefining global finance.
Singapore claimed the top position with a flawless composite score of 100. This achievement reflects the fact that nearly one in four Singaporeans (24.4%) now holds cryptocurrency. Even more striking is the country’s dominance in digital curiosity: Singapore registered over 2,000 crypto-related searches per 100,000 residents, the highest rate worldwide. Just a year ago, only 11% of its population reported owning digital assets, highlighting how quickly adoption has surged.
The UAE followed closely behind, earning a score of 99.7. Roughly 25.3% of its citizens own cryptocurrency, supported by a remarkable 210% growth in adoption in recent years. At its peak in 2022, more than a third of UAE residents reported holding crypto, underscoring the Gulf state’s ambition to become a global hub for blockchain innovation.
The United States ranked third with a score of 98.5, bolstered by infrastructure rather than ownership. The country leads the world in crypto accessibility, boasting more than 30,000 ATMs dedicated to digital assets. Adoption has also expanded significantly, with a 220% increase since 2019. The report highlights the U.S. as a critical driver of global crypto infrastructure despite regulatory uncertainties.
Canada, in fourth place, posted the strongest growth rate among the nations studied. Ownership of digital assets in the country has climbed by 225%, with 10.1% of its population now invested in crypto. Canada also maintains a solid infrastructure network with more than 3,500 ATMs.
Turkey secured the fifth spot with a score of 57.6, reflecting the growing role of cryptocurrencies in economies marked by volatility and inflation. Nearly one in five Turks—19.3%—hold digital assets, making the country the third-largest in terms of ownership rates globally.
The rest of the top ten includes Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Argentina, and Indonesia—nations where adoption is gaining momentum amid expanding regulatory frameworks and rising public interest.
The ApeX Protocol report evaluated nations based on four core indicators: ownership levels, adoption growth, online search activity, and infrastructure availability. Together, these metrics provide a snapshot of how digital assets are being integrated into daily life across diverse economies.
Beyond rankings, the findings point to a broader transformation in financial behavior. Cryptocurrency is no longer confined to speculative trading. For millions, it represents a hedge against economic instability, a tool for cross-border transactions, and an entry point into decentralized finance.
As the study concludes, the global surge in crypto adoption signals more than just market enthusiasm. It reflects a shift in trust—away from traditional banking systems and toward digital alternatives that promise transparency, accessibility, and innovation in an evolving financial ecosystem.
