Coinbase has been named one of TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies of 2025, earning recognition as a "disruptor" in the financial technology sector. The listing highlights the crypto exchange’s expanding influence—not just as a trading platform but as a key driver of crypto policy in the United States.

TIME’s acknowledgment comes on the heels of a breakout year for Coinbase. The company's stock surged nearly 42% year-to-date, with a notable rally in mid-June following the U.S. Senate’s passage of the GENIUS stablecoin bill. Shares jumped from approximately $303 to $382, driven by renewed optimism in the regulatory landscape. In May, Coinbase became the first cryptocurrency company listed in the S&P 500, a milestone underscoring its institutional maturity.

TIME noted that “the company... is a key driver of the industry’s policy efforts in Washington D.C. If industry-friendly bills are passed, Coinbase stands to become an even bigger hub for US crypto activity.”

Coinbase’s visibility on Capitol Hill has intensified as the exchange emerged as a public-facing advocate for regulatory clarity. With President Donald Trump addressing the Coinbase-hosted State of Crypto Summit this June and promising “clear and simple market frameworks,” political winds appear to be shifting toward industry engagement rather than restriction.

Internationally, Coinbase continues to expand its regulatory footprint. On June 20, it secured a MiCA license in the European Union via Luxembourg’s financial regulator, granting it the ability to offer crypto services across the EU. This development comes as Coinbase eyes global leadership in compliant digital asset infrastructure.

The company’s strategic ambitions also extend to tokenized equities. It is currently seeking approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to allow trading of tokenized stocks on its platform. If successful, this would put Coinbase in direct competition with firms like Robinhood and WeBull, further blurring the line between traditional and digital finance.

Viewed by investors and analysts as a proxy for the broader U.S. crypto industry, Coinbase’s performance and public engagement may serve as bellwethers for a prolonged bull market. With rising institutional interest and enhanced regulatory alignment, the company appears well-positioned to shape the next chapter in the evolution of crypto markets.
