Circle Internet Group Inc., the blockchain firm behind USD Coin (USDC), the world’s second-largest stablecoin, has officially launched its long-awaited initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. Trading under the ticker “CRCL,” the offering includes 24 million Class A shares, with 9.6 million sold by Circle itself and 1.44 million by existing stockholders. The anticipated share price range is $24 to $26.

The move follows a series of earlier setbacks, including a failed SPAC merger in 2022 and subsequent confidential filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2024. Despite those hurdles, Circle's IPO now arrives amid improving regulatory sentiment in the U.S. toward digital assets.

Founded in 2013, Circle initially focused on consumer financial products leveraging blockchain, eventually evolving into a major infrastructure provider for integrating digital currencies into business ecosystems. The company gained prominence with the 2018 launch of USDC, a dollar-pegged stablecoin currently valued at $61.4 billion in market capitalization, second only to Tether (USDT).

Stablecoins like USDC play a crucial role in the digital economy, offering low volatility and seamless bridging between fiat currencies and more volatile crypto assets. As regulatory clarity improves, these digital dollars are increasingly finding favor among both retail and institutional investors.

Circle’s IPO is also notable for its timing. Recent statements from U.S. regulators—including the Federal Reserve and the FDIC—have relaxed earlier restrictions on crypto assets. Banks now have more leeway to interact with digital currencies without requiring prior approval, opening new pathways for integration and growth.

The IPO marks one of the largest public listings in the crypto space since Coinbase’s debut on Nasdaq and signals a maturing phase for blockchain-native financial firms. It also highlights a broader shift: as cryptocurrency ventures move from speculation to infrastructure, public markets are beginning to welcome them as legitimate players.
