BitGo Seeks Public Debut as Crypto Markets Reach Historic Highs
BitGo confidentially files for IPO amid Bitcoin's surge, joining a wave of crypto firms going public under Trump-era optimism.
BitGo Holdings is charting a return to center stage in the digital asset world, having confidentially filed for an initial public offering (IPO) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The filing, submitted via Form S-1, omits details on share volume and pricing in accordance with Rule 135 of the Securities Act, enabling a strategic and discreet path toward listing.
Founded in 2013, BitGo is one of the most established crypto custody providers, catering primarily to institutional clients, including funds, exchanges, corporations, and ETF issuers. The firm claims to safeguard over $100 billion in digital assets across more than 1,200 supported tokens. The planned IPO marks a major comeback for BitGo after a failed $1.2 billion acquisition by Galaxy Digital in 2022, a deal that ended in litigation and kept BitGo private as competitors advanced to public markets.
The timing of BitGo's IPO coincides with a broader surge in crypto market valuations. Bitcoin recently surpassed $123,000—an all-time high—fueling investor interest and pushing firms to capitalize on favorable market conditions. Notably, the IPO also occurs under the pro-crypto climate of President Donald Trump’s administration, which has been credited with easing regulatory uncertainty for blockchain enterprises.
BitGo is not alone in this pursuit. Circle, issuer of the USDC stablecoin, successfully went public in June, witnessing its stock soar from $31 to over $298—a staggering 861% increase—placing its valuation north of $55 billion. Grayscale Investments and Bullish have also submitted confidential IPO filings, signaling a broader institutional shift toward public listings in the digital asset space.
This resurgence in crypto IPOs reflects growing maturity in the sector and heightened investor appetite for exposure to blockchain infrastructure. BitGo’s move may open the door for other firms like Ripple, Gemini, and Kraken to follow suit.
As the SEC reviews BitGo’s application, market watchers are keen to see how the offering will be received amid unprecedented bullish momentum in digital assets. If successful, BitGo’s public debut could redefine its role in the increasingly competitive custody market and affirm the strategic value of regulated infrastructure in a rapidly evolving crypto ecosystem.
