Akash Opens Vote to Move AKT From Cosmos to Solana
Akash Network's Proposal #346 asks AKT holders to approve a one-way move from its sovereign Cosmos chain to Solana, converting AKT 1:1 to an SPL token. Early tallies show about 98% support; voting closes November 2, and the marketplace move needs a separate vote.
AKT holders are being asked to approve a move that Akash Network says cannot be undone: retiring the project's sovereign Cosmos chain and relaunching AKT as a native SPL token on Solana. The Akash core team introduced Proposal #346 on October 26, 2026, on its Cosmos-based akashnet-2 chain, with a voting window running from October 26 to November 2, 2026.
Reports on the vote's status differ. One account says the proposal has passed and cites roughly 98% support in early tallies. Another frames the vote as just opening. Because the window stays open until November 2, the 98% figure is best read as an early tally. No final result has been reported.
The terms are specific. AKT converts to an SPL token at 1:1, total supply is unchanged, 6 decimal places are preserved and the ticker stays. Conversion runs through a one-way portal expected to remain open for two years. Once AKT crosses to Solana, the proposal offers no path to reverse it. Audits of the token and the portal are expected to take about two to three weeks after passage, and the migration follows.
The marketplace is a separate matter. It stays on Cosmos for now, and moving it requires its own governance vote after additional audits and rehearsals. Staking rewards would end at that later marketplace cutover. Once the marketplace moves, existing workloads on the old chain are expected to run for 90 days, after which the old chain is set to halt.
SolanaFloor flagged the move in a post on X.

The projected operating costs on Solana are modest. Total marketplace network fees are estimated at about 0.075 SOL per day, and median Solana transaction fees are projected at around $0.001.
The proposal caps a process that began a year ago. Akash first signaled its intent to deprecate its sovereign chain in October 2025, opened a request for proposals in December 2025, and closed that process in August 2026 with Solana selected. Part of the rationale is that Solana hosts a concentration of DePIN projects, meaning decentralized physical infrastructure networks, a category that includes Akash's decentralized cloud computing marketplace.
The open questions concern execution and finality. The marketplace cutover depends on a future vote, more audits and successful rehearsals, with the 90-day overlap for existing workloads serving as the safety net. The token conversion is irreversible, and while the two-year portal window gives holders a long runway, it is not open indefinitely.
For governance watchers, the November 2 close and the audit timeline that follows are the next markers.
