NFT Marketplaces & Trading
NFT marketplaces connect buyers and sellers. OpenSea is the largest multi-chain marketplace. Blur dominates Ethereum trading for serious collectors. Magic Eden started on Solana and expanded to Ethereum and Bitcoin Ordinals. Rarible is community-governed.
Buying is straightforward: connect your wallet, browse collections, buy at listed price or place a bid. Selling involves listing at a desired price, marketplaces take 1-2.5% fees. Some collections have creator royalties, a percentage of every resale going back to the artist, which is revolutionary for creator compensation.
Evaluating NFTs: consider the team's reputation, community engagement, utility (does it grant access?), rarity traits, historical volume, and floor price trends. The floor price is the lowest listed price in a collection, the most watched metric.
Risks are significant. Most collections lose value over time. Wash trading inflates metrics. Counterfeit collections exist on every marketplace. Rug pulls happen regularly. Never invest more than you can afford to lose, research thoroughly, and be deeply skeptical of guaranteed returns.
