Strategy Inc. has resumed Bitcoin accumulation after a period of inactivity, spending approximately $75.7 million to acquire 950 BTC and pushing its total holdings to 846,000 Bitcoin. The purchase signals renewed conviction from the company that pioneered corporate Bitcoin treasury strategy in 2020.
The buy comes alongside a separate $174 million repurchase of the company's STRC preferred stock, suggesting Strategy is actively managing multiple layers of its capital structure simultaneously. The company reported $5.10 billion in USD Reserve and $1.30 billion in USD Cash, giving it substantial dry powder to continue accumulating if it chooses. At 846,000 BTC, Strategy now controls roughly 4% of Bitcoin's total fixed supply of 21 million coins.
Strategy is not alone in its accumulation this week. Strive, the asset management firm, separately acquired 1,355 BTC for $107.7 million, a larger single purchase by coin count. The two transactions together represent over 2,300 BTC pulled from the market in a short window, a non-trivial demand signal even against Bitcoin's daily spot volume. Corporate treasury buying of this kind has become a structural feature of the Bitcoin market since 2024, with balance sheet buyers behaving differently from retail or hedge fund participants: they rarely sell, and they tend to buy on schedule rather than in response to price dips.
The resumption framing matters here. Strategy had gone quiet on the accumulation front for a stretch, and any pause from a buyer of its scale tends to get noticed. Coming back with a $76 million purchase, even if modest relative to prior tranches, resets the narrative. The company's average acquisition cost across 846,000 BTC will determine how its balance sheet looks at current prices. What is clear is that the company has made no move to reduce its position, despite persistent criticism that concentrating this much of a volatile asset on a corporate balance sheet introduces meaningful risk.
Concentration of this magnitude raises legitimate questions about market influence: a single entity controlling 4% of supply and continuing to buy is a structural force that smaller participants cannot ignore. Regulatory scrutiny around corporate crypto holdings has also been an open question, particularly as Bitcoin's role in institutional portfolios grows more prominent. And the entire thesis depends, at some level, on Bitcoin holding or growing its value over the holding period. None of these risks have materialized in a way that has forced Strategy to reverse course, but they remain real.
For now, the signal is clear: Strategy is back buying, Strive is buying, and corporate demand for Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset shows no sign of cooling heading into the final quarter of 2026.
