CHICO, Calif. — ATM fraud continues to be on the rise in Butte County, now supervisors are teaming up with Chico Police to break down how to combat this crisis.
In Tuesday’s Regular Meeting, County Supervisors will discuss atm bitcoin fraud in Butte County. The county’s Chief Administrative Officer, Andy Pickett, is set to lead a presentation on the crisis alongside the Chico Police Department (CPD).
We are always looking for issues that might affect our local citizens and one of the things that we have heard of and are concerned about are the Bitcoin ATMs, “said Butte County 4th District Supervisor, Tod Kimmelshue. “we’re going to take action to send the information back to our employees here and see what they can come up with as far as what we can do legally and what we can’t do.
Kimmelshue added that Tuesday’s presentation will break down what these ATM scammers do, what are the best ways to combat it as a county, and how the public can stay away from scams.
